Why we started LearnABLE
LearnABLE was founded by Mehek Jain and Yashraj with a single, powerful belief: blind students are not limited by ability — they are limited by systems that were never designed for them.
India's classrooms rely heavily on visual teaching — whiteboards, diagrams, projected slides. For a visually impaired student, this isn't just inconvenient. It's exclusionary. We built LearnABLE to change that, training volunteers to teach through clear verbal explanation, interactive discussion, step-by-step breakdowns, and audio-based learning.

Our volunteers are trained to move away from visual-first pedagogy and replace it with rich, accessible, multi-sensory learning designed around each student.

Every concept is communicated through clear, precise spoken language — no reliance on pointing to diagrams or saying "look at this."
Audio-Based Learning
Lessons are structured around listening, recall, and verbal response — channels that blind learners use naturally and powerfully.
Interactive Discussion
We use Socratic methods, real conversation, and active engagement — fostering genuine comprehension rather than passive absorption.
Step-by-Step Breakdown
Complex topics are deconstructed into layered, logical sequences — making subjects like math and science accessible without visual aids.

LearnABLE runs structured English batches across three levels and a dedicated coding programme — all designed for blind and visually impaired students. We offer both group tutoring and personal one-on-one tutoring, based on each child's wishes and needs.

KATHA — A Food Fundraiser
What started as an idea became one of our most energising days yet. Our volunteers ran a full food stall at CHIREC International School, serving homemade food to hundreds of students and staff — all in the name of a cause. Every rupee raised goes directly towards building accessible learning tools, supporting our students at Devnar School for the Blind, and bringing our vision of an India where the visually impaired can speak for themselves, one step closer to reality.
